Media Man.....?

I've always felt more comfortable when I speak than when I write. I guess in some ways as writing becomes more natural I do enjoy the calm comfortable environment provided by my safe little office. I suppose it's the exhilaration one gets when they are put on the spot speaking to the masses on radio, or even a single print reporter.

It has always been my own personal nature through my life to see that calm peaceful place like my office, but to turn to a more stress filled intense place like my recent first radio interview on www.beachBOOSTERradio.com . I have always had that short attention span, always looked for a bit of a rush. I think that translates into my writing where I have been getting really great feedback from people who claim to bore easily when reading.

I've been told that when writing you should "break all the rules". I've never personally taken the time to even find out what the rules are. I only have one rule that I will not break, this rule is my own. Never do it if you don't love it, or if something isn't leading you to it. I don't always enjoy writing. I get stressed, and tired, I feel self doubt and I feel exhausted at times. But like a real world marathon the big prize is at the end. It's not because you did something you had to do, it's because you did something nearly impossible that you didn't have to do. That's what has drawn me to my writing, and I hope it never lets me go.

And so it begins.

On July 8th 2015 The Incarnations of Joe Book 1- The Key officially went on sale. After two years of hard work I would have at one point believed that this would have been the end of the road for this project. As it turns out this is barely the beginning. The truth is just as others had described it to be. I have written a book and nobody cares. Well to say nobody cares would likely be offensive to my parents, my wife, and family. Perhaps some of my closest friends might feel slightly snubbed to have me say that nobody cares. The truth is that at this stage those that care do it more so because they care about me, than because they care about the book.

With so many ways to spend your time, to choose reading seems a long shot from the start. With millions of available choices to have a stranger choose my work seems nearly impossible. So I guess until I succeed, or until I grow to tired to trying any longer my task is to either find new ways for strangers to find, and then choose to read my work. Or perhaps I could just head outside and make new friends so that strangers become familiar, and new friends enjoy my work.

Either way, win or lose, stand or fall, I feel a great sense of personal satisfaction for having tried. The end result will never truly be known until it is in fact, the end.

What is "The Incarnations of Joe" about?

One thing on many peoples minds as they wait for the release of The Incarnations of Joe Book One - The Key is what exactly is this book about? Really that question can be answered two ways. First what is the story itself about? And second what is the purpose of the story?

The story itself follows the old soul known as Joe through one of his Incarnations in the flesh as the book refers to it. Joe was given a special ability and task by God thousands of years ago. For some yet unknown reason Joe has decided to abandon the task given to him by God in order to live a normal life among common souls. Unaware of his own heritage or the value his gift holds to both good and evil, Joe is now the focal point of a very old war.

The intent of the book is to challenge readers own morals and beliefs through situations where right and wrong are not clearly defined. In our own lives our actions and the choices of those around us are not always indisputably right or wrong. We have many preconceived notions about people in our society that should be good, or should be questionable.  But how would we act, how would we feel if the things we have always believed in are suddenly undone? Never judge a person by their title, never assume to know ones true intentions. Right can become wrong, and in some cases things that should be wrong can become right. Some will see Joe as a Hero, others as the villain, and some will see him as the victim.  There is no correct answer. The choice is up to each individual reader, and each of us will make that choice for different reasons.

Above all else The Incarnations of Joe is fiction for entertainment only. The thoughts and ideas in the book are fictitious, as are the characters. The book does not intend to make any political or religious statement, it intends only to provoke the readers thoughts and emotions for their personal enjoyment.

I am waiting, but is the world watching?

With only a few weeks until the release of The Incarnations of Joe I am admittedly nervous about the big day. I am not nervous about the quality of my work, I do not question my choice of story or characters. It is finding my way out of the endless words written to pages by others that concerns me. I feel a sense of destiny driven by passion, but I see others who feel they have the same.

Is it all predetermined destiny? Or do we each hold the key to our own successes or failures? I guess in the end I will never accept failure as the final result. I will only accept failure as today's reality, and tomorrows motivation.

Just signed off to accept all cover and book content as done. A very proud moment, very excited over the next month to have some rest before the real work starts.

What's your most memorable moment of waiting for something, or some day to finally arrive? Please share.

Met someone special

Yesterday (June 5) Melissa and I traveled to Port Elgin Ontario to meet the amazingly talented Kelly Armstrong. It was an experience that really served to enlighten and motivate me further towards my goals. Kelly was very well spoken and gave tremendous insight into writing as a career. These types of things, the speaking and the meeting people, and travelling are the types of things that I hope will make all the hard work worth the effort.

Trying some new things here. Never been a "blogger", finding the whole social media thing can be very tiring. Let me know in the comments your favorite forum for information. Do you like FaceBook, Twitter, Web sites, Blogs, or good old fashioned E-Mail?
